NATO 40K LEAGUE RULES
During each game, players will have complete freedom to
play any army list and any number of points agreed upon between the players
involved. Players are not required to play the same list or even the same
codex during the League Season. For example, Player A owns 4 WH40K armies.
Player A may choose to play any of his 4 armies during a Season and all games
will count for his WH40K standing. This allows people to try out different
list compositions and various armies and prevents league games from becoming
stagnant. Pre-arrange games with opponents to avoid waiting for
players to create lists. Use email, telephone or the League Bulletin Board
to arrange times to meet with an opponent. 1850 points may be considered a
standard list size and players should pre-configure one or more lists of
this size to facilitate pickup games if random players show up. There are no rules regarding army composition. Some
players like competitive lists while other may prefer something wacky and
different every once in a while. Discuss with your opponent prior to you
game what type of game you are in the mood for. Playing an internet
competitive list versus a wacky list may not be an enjoyable
matchup for either player. Painting is strongly encouraged, but is optional since
we would like to encourage new players to join as well as painting
enthusiasts/professionals. Your army should be accurately modeled. This is
called What You See Is What You Get (WYSIWYG). If your opponent agrees you
may play a non-WYSIWYG army. This is great for play testing a new list
before you model it. ALWAYS bring a copy of your army list and your Codex to
every battle. You should also bring copies of any FAQ rules you may be
using. Before you begin you and you opponent should swap lists
for 5 minutes and review them (Open List). Answer any of your opponents
questions and clarify any rules either of you may be fuzzy on. Note that
your opponent has the right to ask what models are equipped with DURING the
battle as well; this is just a chance to get familiar with the enemy. If
you have any conversions or other exceptional models that might be
confusing to your opponent, please bring these up to your opponent at this
time. Set up terrain in any agreeable manner. It if often
best to have an un-biased League member not involved in the game set up the
scenery. Players should agree on the effects of each piece of terrain
before the game starts. Once the table has been completely setup, the mission
is decided by the players. This is done by a series of D6 rolls. The
league missions will have a Primary, Secondary, and Tertiary objectives.
The selection of the objectives are completed as follows:
Secondary Objective 1. Headhunter- For this objective,
you must kill your opponents Primary HQ. If you opponent has more than one
HQ choice, your opponent must nominate which HQ choice will serve as the
Primary HQ. If you 2. Table Quarters- For this objective
you must hold more table quarters at the end of the game than your
opponent. Table quarters can only be held by units that can hold objectives
and can be contested by any unit that can contest objectives. 3. Gain Ground- For this objective you
must have more scoring units in your opponents deployment zone than your
opponent has in yours. 4. Locate the Artifact- For this
objective you must have 6 objectives numbered 1-6. Each player takes a
turn placing the artifact markers face down on the board. No marker
can be within 12" of another marker. After all markers are placed,
roll a d6. The number rolled corresponds to the marker number that
must be held. In order to complete this objective, you must hold the
designated artifact marker with a scoring unit at the end of the game. 5. Kill em All- Inflict heavy losses
on your opponent to weaken the army's resolve. For this objective you must
have more scoring units remaining on the field than your opponent. 6. Crossed Communication- Lines
of communication have been crossed and lack of communication leads to
confusion on the true objective. Roll on this chart at the beginning of the
3rd turn. If a 6 is rolled on the second attempt, the Primary
objective counts for the Primary as well as the secondary.
Tertiary Objective 1. Hold the Center- For this objective
you must hold an objective placed in the center of the board with a scoring
unit. 2. Heavy Losses- For this objective
you must your opponents most expensive unit. This does not include any
transport purchased with the unit as it is counted separately. 3. Strategic Location- For this
objective you must hold more terrain features than your opponent.
Discuss with your opponent pre-game what is considered terrain feature. 4. Hit em hard- For this objective you
must have 50% more VP's remaining on the table than your opponent. For
example, if you have 1000 points left at the end of the game, you opponent
must have 500 points or left remaining. Any other result is a draw. 5. Targets of Opportunity- For this
objective you must roll a d6 at the beginning of the game. Elites = 1-2,
Fast Attack = 3-4, Heavy Support = 5-6. You must eliminate all
components of your opponents army that fall into this force org to claim
this objective. If you oponent does not have any units that fall into
this category, you automatically complete this objective. If both
opponents complete this objective, the result is a draw. 6. Crossed Communication- Lines
of communication have been crossed and lack of communication leads to
confusion on the true objective. Roll on this chart at the beginning of the
3rd turn. If a 6 is rolled on the second attempt, the Secondary
objective counts for both the Secondary as well as the Tertiary objective.
If the Secondary objective is Crossed Communication, it means
that the Primary objective counts for the Primary, Secondary, and Tertiary
objective. A unit can contest or hold multiple
objectives. Calculate Game Points Calculate the victory conditions for all the objectives

objective, a win on the Secondary objective, and a loss on the Tertiary
Objective. Player A has accumulated 20 points for the battle. Example 2: Player B has a win on the Primary objective,
a win on the Secondary objective, and a loss on the Tertiary Objective.
Player B has accumulated 30 points for the battle. The Rule of 10 The lowest score a league member will earn for a game
is 10 points, even if the total accumulated points is less than 10. Bonus Points A league player can get 10 additional bonus points It is the responsibility of the players to record the
battle and submit the results in writing to the league manager. Official
battle scoring sheets are available for download on the League website and
may be available at the store where you are playing. Players should record
the battles themselves and place the completed forms in the folder at their
earliest convenience. Your signature on the score sheet indicates that the
list played by your opponent was legal and that the scores recorded are
accurate. There will be no changes in scoring made after scores are recorded
for non-legal lists that you had the opportunity to check. Unsigned score
sheets will be discarded (no attempt to chase down a signature will be
made). The results will be tallied and posted on the League Results page
of the NATO website. (www.tabletop-wargames.com)
At the end on the league season, NATO will host an end
of league tournament to crown the league champion for the season. A minimum
league point score will be set to qualify for the tournament. The
tournament will consist of a single elimination bracket that will be used to
crown the League Champion. Prize support will be provided for the End of
League Tournament by NATO. If at least 8 players are not qualified for the
End of League Tournament, the minimum point total required will be lowered
to have at least 8 players for the tournament. There are a few simple courtesies that we ask all
players to observe during the battle that will help you and your opponent
feel more at ease:
·
Always declare why you are rolling the dice before you roll
them.
·
With the exception of determining if you can Assault, you
should NEVER pre-measure for ANYTHING.
·
Always allow your opponent to clearly see the results of a
roll.
·
A dice is considered “cocked” when it does not come to rest
flush with the table surface. If the dice is at any angle other than flat,
REROLL it! If in doubt, reroll the dice. Please have a copy of all rules for your army (This
includes the most recent copy of your armies GW FAQ). If your opponent asks
a question specific to your army, do not become offended. Your opponent is
just trying to gain an understanding. Provide your opponent a copy of the
rules for them to review. If you cannot come to a conclusion, review the
INAT FAQ to see if the issue is addressed. If you still cannot come to a
conclusion, die off for it. Please consider this is a game with little toy
soldiers and not worth getting into a heated debate and loosing friends
over. |
